Another Life Change

Part 1 - I am a reader.  I have always been a reader.  I love to read.  The problem with this is that I sit down, pick up a book, and put it down when I have finished the last page.

Little skinny paperbacks aren't so bad, but look out for Harry Potter or James Michner or War and Peace!  I have actually taken days off work so I can sleep after a new Harry Potter comes out and it's a marathon read.

Part 2 - Music is nice.  There are bits of music in the world that I really like.  I have a nice stereo, CDs, a good radio/CD player in my car, and they are unused.  I don't like to listen to music or anything else when I'm driving.

My kids and their kids have iPods.  They can't walk across the floor without being plugged in to their tunes. Everything they do, everywhere they go, they have music pumping their eardrums in and out.

Honey has an iPod.  I bought it for him for summers at work so he can listen to his music while he cleans his school.  He quite likes it, but he's getting tired of the songs now.

I've never wanted an iPod. Shoot, I don't listen to the music I have available now.  There is also the little issue of only having one ear.  My left ear quit working when I was about 10 years old.  How's that for sad?  I've never heard stereo!

Actually, it reminds me of years ago when I told my sister, "I don't want a computer.  What on earth would I do with a computer?"  Famous last words, those.  I've had four computers since then, and . . . . . now I have an iPod.

It's right there on the counter, charging, next to the breadboard Grandson made in woodshop, Granddaughter's bobble-head hockey trophy, and Great-grandma's blue canning jars.  And it's mine.

Continue Part 1 and 2 - Sarahlocks cleans schools too.  She loves to read too.  She is tired of her music too.  She has found a fantastic source for used audio books.  She's putting books on her iPod!  I'm in!!!!

As is usual for me, I do not have a new hobby as much as a new obsession.  This can open new worlds for me!  I can get off my arse and do something while I read my books!  Glory be!  I might even (gasp!) dust!  I could take the stupid dog for a walk!  I could go to Mayberry and NEVER come back!!  I'm a little breathless here.

That's it.  I have to get a new one for Honey so he can have the books to listen to on his!  We can go to Mayberry together.
